Free stuff will be available in neighborhoods twice annually in various cities. This event is called Give Your Stuff Away Day™, and founder Mike Morone is hoping to establish it in more locations. This event could help people in a tough economy, while reducing clutter, shrinking landfills, cutting hauling costs, and boosting the economy.
Give Your Stuff Away Day™ is a large-scale recycling and giveaway event. Morone created the concept in 2009 and is asking municipal leaders to adopt the idea for May and September 2024
Halifax, Winnipeg, Yampa Valley, Sawyer Hill Ecovillage, Steyning, and other areas have successfully implemented this event.
Here’s how it works: On the designated Saturday (or the Friday before) of Give Your Stuff Away Day, just put your unwanted items on your curb as donations to others. Then go out yourself and pick up things you need. The result is a fun, neighborly giveaway event in the same vein as Halloween.
